When Will the #SportsBiz Job Market Come Back?

I got a lot of people giving me positive feedback on my Should I Stay in #SportsBiz article. So much so that my site followers jump by almost 50 in 2 days. But amidst all the positive comments, one question kept coming up:

That's great I should try to stay in sports...but when is the #sportsbiz job market coming back?

People know that I like to hypothesize and people definitely know that I like to have real answers. On this one? I just don't know.

I want to say this winter...but more and more teams are laying people off every day...STILL. Do I think there'll be bounce back while teams are still laying off AND we're not sure if we're playing in front of fans? I don't.

So the spring...right? I don't know. I want to say 'Yes'...but I can't. Teams will roll over a TON of season ticket and sponsorship revenue from 2020 to 2021, BUT they also used that money as operating costs in 2020. That means, for a lot of clubs, there'll get almost ZERO dollars from season ticket renewals and sponsorship renewals in 2021. A lot of times, that assumed money is used to build a budget. So will owners have big appetites to lose a TON of money back to back years? I'm not so sure.

So what does that leave? The summer? The fall/winter? 2022? Honestly, I have no clue. And I'm not sure anyone in the industry has one, either.

So, this goes back to what I said before. ATTACK! When you see a role open up, don't just apply...call the hiring team. Email the hiring team. Taking every training and networking opportunity you can. It's a contact sport right now. Hit hard.
